We are delighted to be now working with Julia Thomas of Dogmatics, who will be running our Puppy Preschool classes and assisting with canine problem behaviour. Julia does one-on-one coaching, small classes, puppy kindergarten, as well as various disciplines, including obedience, agility, tracking, scent and search work, dog walking and home visits. In 2003 she took a year out of her Human Resources consulting practice to study full time at Unitec, completing a Certificate in Animal Management - Canine Behaviour and Training. The course included a significant component of practical dog handling in a number of disciplines, as well as applicable theory including applied canine behaviour, health and husbandry. Julia loved this course and graduated with the top student award in 2004. Julia’s interest in dog training and behaviour was piqued by the challenges she faced when she got a new dog eight years ago. “Thomas was a handful from day one. He needed a lot of expert help - medically (thank you pet & vet) and behaviourally. Thomas is still “special” his health issues are ongoing but the stuff I learnt about managing his behaviour proved to be a catalyst for a change of direction in my career”.
