The Betty Wright Boarding Cattery When my mother and father, Betty and Neville, bought a section at Black Rock between Takapuna and Milford (for $500 by the way) little did they know that the house they had designed by Vernon Brown would not only become famous for its design and location but also be the catalyst for the creation of the new, unique and upmarket boarding cattery in their son Simon’s vet practice! After the death of my father many years ago my mother, whom many of the locals knew, continued to live in the house till her death aged 95 last year and when my brother and I, with heavy heart, sold the house I decided to take my share and put it towards the development of pet & vet, especially the cattery. I feel sure that my parents would be happy that their home has enabled us to offer a useful service to the community and hence the cattery as The Betty Wright Boarding Cattery. The cattery features a lovely warm open plan with individual runs, couches, outside exercise areas, TV and staff who really love the cats. All this is backed up with on-hand vet practice and hospitalization facilities if necessary. We have high safety standards with the latest monitored smoke alarms direct to the fire service and a fully alarmed building. We also have retained the communal cattery, which some guests prefer and we also have special individual runs for convalescing, frail or special cases, such as diabetic cats situated adjacent to the Vets' new offices for easy observation. We really welcome visitors whom we are proud to give a thorough tour of inspection. Many people when they see the facility say they would like to stay there themselves. Please do book early especially for the holiday times because we are just so popular!!
